On September 13, 2024, AV天堂 Paris will host an exceptional fashion show at the H么tel Mona Bismarck. This event will showcase the creations of this year鈥檚 graduates, with a scenography designed in collaboration with 脡cole Bleue. In anticipation of this evening, we would like to share the fascinating history of the remarkable women who have inhabited this iconic venue.

Mona von Bismarck, born Mona Travis Strader on February 5, 1897, in Louisville, Kentucky, is recognized as one of the most influential socialites of the 20th century. Her life, filled with luxury and glamour, unfolded in the heart of international high society, notably in her opulent Parisian residence.

Mona began her social career with a modest upbringing in Louisville. Her first marriage to Henry J. Schlesinger, a wealthy banker, introduced her to elite circles. Her subsequent union with James Irving Bush, a prominent social figure, further solidified her position. The most significant marriage of her life was with Harrison Williams, one of the wealthiest men in the United States in the 1920s. Thanks to Williams' fortune, Mona was able to fully indulge in her passion for fashion and travel, becoming a central figure in the world of designers and socialites.

Mona von Bismarck - Best Dressed Woman in the World in 1933

Mona von Bismarck had a considerable impact on fashion. In 1933, she was named the "Best Dressed Woman in the World" by icons such as Chanel, Molyneux, Vionnet, and Lelong, a recognition that cemented her status as a fashion icon. She was a muse to some of the most renowned designers of her time, with a wardrobe featuring pieces from Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Dior. Her style, characterized by clean lines and luxurious fabrics, not only defined her personal image but also influenced fashion trends.

An essential chapter of Mona's life is her Parisian residence. In 1953, she married Count Albrecht "Eddy" von Bismarck-Sch枚nhausen, a direct descendant of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. The couple settled in a splendid mansion on Avenue de New York, overlooking the Seine. This residence, decorated by the famous designer St茅phane Boudin, became a reflection of Mona's elegance, richly adorned with antique furniture, artworks, and sumptuous textiles. It was in this home that Mona hosted lavish receptions, attracting European and American elite, celebrities, artists, and fashion designers, making her home a vibrant center of cultural and social life.

Although her influence waned somewhat with age, Mona von Bismarck's legacy in the fashion world remains vibrant. After her death in 1983, her residence was transformed into the Mona Bismarck American Center for Art & Culture, ensuring her influence on the arts and fashion would continue.

As we prepare to celebrate the talent of our graduates, we invite you to follow . The fashion show will be live streamed on September 13, 2024. The H么tel Mona Bismarck, imbued with Mona's elegance and legacy, will provide the perfect backdrop for an evening dedicated to fashion and art. We look forward to sharing this unique moment with you.
